length of side of larger square=(x+5)
area=(x+5) ^2
x^2+x^2+10x+25=53
2x^2+10x-28=o
2x^2+14x-4x-28=o
2x(x+7) -4(x+7) =o
(2x-4) (x+7) =0
2(x-2) (x+7) =o
x=2cm is the side of smaller square
2+5=7cm is the length of side of larger square
