Let the unit digit be x
Tens digit will be (12-x)
Value of number= 10(12-x) + x
= 120-10x+x
= 120-9x

When the digits are interchanged,
Unit digit= (12-x)
Tens digit= x
Value of number= 12-x+10x
=12+9x

According to your question,

120-9x = 12+9x-54
-18x = -162
x=
 \frac{ - 162}{ - 18}
=9
So the original number:
unit digit= x=9
tens digit= (12-x) = 12-9 = 3

ORIGINAL NUMBER= 39
