Question:

The sum of the digits of 2- digit number is 12 . Thr number is 6 times the unite digit. Find the number.

To Find:

  • The number.

Solution:

Let assume number at tens place = x

And number at units place = y

So number = 10x + y

Given,

that sum of two digits is 12

 \implies \: x + y = 12

 \implies \: y = 12 - x........(1)

Also given number is 6 times the unit digit

 \implies \: 10x + y = 6y

 \implies \: 10x - 5y = 0

 \implies \: 2x - y = 0..........(2)

Substituting value of x from equation (1) in equation (2) we get,

 \implies \: 2x - (12 - x) = 0

 \implies \: 3x = 12

 \implies \: x = 4

From (2)

 \implies \: y = 12 - x

 \implies \: 12 - 4 + 8

 \implies \: 48

Hence,

required number is 10x - 4 + 8 = 48.
