Let the 2 digits be x and y.

Given that:

(1) x + y = 11

(2) x = y - 5

By substituting equation (2) value in equation (1) value, we get:

y - 5 + y = 11

2y - 5 = 11

2y = 16

y = 16/2

y = 8

Substitute y = 8 in equation (1), we get:

x = 8 - 5

x = 3

Therefore, the number is 3.
