The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 13 the number obtained by interchanging the digits of the given number exceed that number by 45 find the number graphically

Let us consider that the two digits are a and b.

Then the number is (10a + b).

When the digits are interchanged, the new number is (10b + a).

By the given condition :

a + b = 13 .....(i)

and

10b + a = (10a + b) + 45

=> 9b = 9a + 45

=> b = a + 5 .....(ii)

Putting b = a + 5 in (i), we get :

a + a + 5 = 13

=> 2a = 8

=> a = 4

From (ii), putting a = 4, we get :

b = 4 + 5 = 9

Therefore, the number is

= ( 10a + b )

= 10 × 4 + 9

= 40 + 9

= 49 [ • Required answer ]
