The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 16.
The number obtained by interchanging the digits is
less by 18 than the original number. Find that two-

Answer:

let digit on tens place be x and ones place be y

x+y = 16-----------------------------(1)

10y+x = 10x +y -18

9x-9y = 18

x-y =2-------------------------(2)

Solving (1) & (2)'by elimination,

x=9, y=7

Therefore the two-digit no. is 97

once place = y

10y + x = 10x + y = 18

9x - 9y = 18

x - y = 2 ---------------------- ( 2 )

solving equation ( 1 ) and ( 2 )

x = 9

y = 7
