Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 9. The number is 6 times the units digit.

To find:-

Find the number ?

Solution:-

Let the digit at ones place in the number be Y

Let the digit at tens place in the number be X

The place value of Y = 1×Y = Y

The place value of X = 10×X = 10X

Then, The number = 10X + Y

Given that

The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 9.

X+Y = 9 ---------------(1)

=> X = 9-Y ------------(2)

and

The number is 6 times the units digit.

=> The number = 6× units digit

=> 10X+Y = 6Y

=> 10X = 6Y-Y

=> 10X = 5Y

=> 10(9-Y) = 5Y

=> 90 - 10Y = 5Y

=> 90 = 5Y+10Y

=> 90 = 15Y

=> 15Y = 90

=> Y = 90/15

=> Y = 6

In Substituting the value of Y in (1)

=> X = 9-6

=> X = 3

The digit at 10s place = 3

The digit at ones place = 6

The number = 36

Answer:-

The required number for the given problem is 36

Check:-

The digit at 10s place = 3
