The sum of the first 7 term of an AP is 49 and the sum of it's first 17 terms is 289. Find the sum of it's first n terms.

If the sum of first 7 terms of an AP is 49 and that of 17 terms is 289, find the sum of first n terms. Here S7 = 49, S17 = 289 Let 'a' be the first term and 'd' the common difference. ... ∴ n = 12. Hence, the number of terms is 12.
