S_n=\dfrac{n}{2}(2a+(n-1)d) , wher a is the first term and d is common difference.

Given : For n= 6 and d= 2 , S_6=48

Put all the values in the above formula :-

S_6=\dfrac{6}{2}(2a+(6-1)2)\\\\\Rightarrow\ 48=(3)(2a+10)\\\\\Rightarrow\ 2a+10=\dfrac{48}{3}=16\\\\\Rightarrow\ 2a=16-10=6\\\\\Rightarrow\ a=\dfrac{6}{2}=3

nth term = a_n=a+(n-1)d

For n= 4

a_4=3+(4-1)(2)=3+6=9

Hence, the 4th term=9
