.The sum of the numerator and denominator of a fraction is 12. If the denominator is

increased by 3, the fraction becomes 1/2. find the fraction.​

Answer:

Let the Numerator be x

And the Denominator be y

A/q

x + y = 12

=> y = 12 - x .............. ( 1 )

When the denominator is increased by 3

x/(y+3) = 1/2

=> 2x = y + 3

=> 2x = 12 - x + 3 .....{ from eq. (1) }

=> 2x + x = 15

=> 3x = 15

=> x = 15/3 = 5

Now ,

From eq. (1)

y = 12 - x

= 12 - 5

= 7

Hence , Req. frec. = x/y = 5/7 Ans...
