Sum of the neumerator and the denomenator of a fraction is 12.
Let, the neumerator be x and the denomenator be y.
So, the fraction corresponds as
$\frac{x}{y}$
A.T.Q.
$x + y = 12......(ii)$


and if the denomenator is increased by 3, the fraction becomes 1/2., i.e.,

$\frac{x}{y + 3} = \frac{1}{2} \ \\ 2x = y + 3 \\ 2x - y = 3.....(ii)$

Adding equation (i) and (ii)
$3x = 15 \\ x = 5$
therefore, y= 7
thus, the required fraction becomes
$\frac{5}{7}$
