Sum of the neumerator and the denomenator of a fraction is 12.
Let, the neumerator be x and the denomenator be y.
So, the fraction corresponds as
 \frac{x}{y}
A.T.Q.
x + y = 12......(ii)

and if the denomenator is increased by 3, the fraction becomes 1/2., i.e.,

 \frac{x}{y + 3}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \ \\  2x = y + 3 \\  2x - y = 3.....(ii)

Adding equation (i) and (ii)
3x = 15 \\ x = 5
therefore, y= 7
thus, the required fraction becomes
 \frac{5}{7}
