Let the pages be x and x+1

x+x+1 = 85

2x = 85-1

2x = 84

x = 84/2

x = 42

So the page numbers are 42 and 43

IF SUM IS NOT GIVEN AND PRODUCT IS GIVEN :

x(x+1) = 1806

x²+x-1806 = 0

By splitting middle term

x²+43x - 42x - 1806 = 0

x(x+43)-42(x+43) =0

(x-42)(x+43) = 0

x = 42

So the pages are 42 and 43

HELLO.......FRIEND!!

THE ANSWER IS HERE,

Let the two page numbers be x & x+1.

If their sum is given.

=> x+x+1 = 85.

=> 2x+1 =85.

=> 2x =85-1 =84

=> x=42.

So, The pages are 42 & 43.

If the sum is not given but product is given,

=> x(x+1)=1806.

 =  >  \:  {x}^{2}  + x = 1806

 =  >  \:  {x}^{2}  + x - 1806 = 0

 =  >  \:  {x}^{2}  + 43x - 42x - 1806 = 0

 =  >  \: x(x + 43) - 42(x + 43) = 0

 =  >  \: (x - 42)(x + 43) = 0

So, x= 42 & -43.

But page numbers are always +ve.
So, -43 is neglected.

So, The page numbers are 42 & 43.

:-)Hope it helps u.
