Perimeter of square I = 4a
                                   = 4(18)
                                   = 72 cm
Perimeter of square II = 4a
                                    = 4(12)
                                    = 48 cm
Acc to question,
Perimeter of 2 squares = Perimeter of rectangle
                        72 + 48 = 2(36 + b)
                           120/2 = 36 + b
                                  b = 60 - 36
                                  b = 24 cm
Area of square I = a²
                           = (18)²
                           = 324 cm²
Area of square II = a²
                            = (12)²
                            = 144 cm²
Sum of Areas of squares = 324+144
                                         = 468 cm²
Area of rectangle = lb
                             = (36)(24)
                             = 864 cm²
Hence area of rectangle is greater than that of sum of areas of squares
They differ by = 864-468
                       = 396 cm²

:) Hope this helps!!!
