Hi Mate !!

Let the present age of father be x and Daughter be y

• Sum of their ages is 42 years.

x + y = 42

x = 42 - y ..... ( i )

• After 7 years their age will be :-

Father's age :- ( x + 7 )
Daughter's age :- ( y + 7 )

# Father will be 3 times older than her daughter !!

( x + 7 ) = 3 ( y + 7 )

x + 7 = 3y + 21

x - 3y = 21 - 7

x - 3y = 14 ....... ( ii ) .

Putting value of x from ( i ) in ( ii )

x - 3y = 14

42 - y - 3y = 14

42 - 14 - 4y = 0

28 = 4y

28/4 = y

7 = y

Putting value of y in ( i )

x = 42 - y

x = 42 - 7

x = 35

So, the father's present age is ( x ) :- 35 years.
and daughter's present age is ( y ) :- 7 years !!

Here is your answer
=================
Let the present age of father be x and Daughter be y

• Sum of their ages is 42 years.

x + y = 42

x = 42 - y ..... (1)

Putting value of x from ( 1 ) in ( 2 )

x - 3y = 14

42 - y - 3y = 14

42 - 14 - 4y = 0

28 = 4y

28/4 = y

7 = y

Putting value of y in (1)

x = 42 - y

x = 42 - 7

x = 35

So,

the father's present age is ( x ) :- 35 years.

daughter's present age is ( y ) :- 7 years !!
