• Let present age of mother be M and present age of daughter be N.

A.T.Q.

» The sum of the present ages of a daughter and mother is 44 years.

=> M + N = 44

=> M = 44 - N _______ (eq 1)

» After two years

• Age of mother = (M + 2) years

• Age of daughter = (N + 2) years

» After two years mother's age will be

3 times daughters age.

A.T.Q.

=> M + 2 = 3(N + 2)

=> M + 2 = 3N + 6

=> M = 3N + 4

=> 44 - N = 3N + 4 [From (eq 1)]

=> 44 - 4 = 3N + N

=> 40 = 4N

=> N = 40/4

=> N = 10

Put value of N in (eq 1)

=> M = 44 - 10

=> M = 34

✡ Verification

M + N = 44

From above calculations we have M = 34 and N = 10

Put them in above equation

34 + 10 = 44

44 = 44
