let the present age of father be x and

sun be y

x+y=90 .... (given) (I)

10 years earlier

father's age =x-10

sun's age=y-10

x-10/y-10=5/2

2x-20=5y-50

5y-2x=30 .... (II)

multiply equation (I) by 2 we get,

2x+2y=180 ...... (III)

add equation (II) &(III) we get,

7y=210

y=30

x=90-30=60

age of sun is 30 and age of father is 60

Answer:

The present age of the father is 60

Step-by-step explanation:

From the above question,

Given:

sum of present age of father+ son= 90yrs

10yrs earlier age= 5:2

To find:

The present age of the father?

Solution:

Let their ages be x

So, 10yrs ago, their ages= 5x(father), 2x(son)

And after 10 years(according to the question), their age is

  father= 5x+10

      son= 2x+10

Also, (5x+10)+(2x+10)=90(present age)

          5x+10+2x+10=90

          7x+20= 90

                 7x= 90-20

                   x= 70/7

                    = 10

Therefore, the present age of the father will be;

      5x+10

    =5×10+10

    = 60
