Let Sarika's age be x and Salma's age be y.
Given, x=2y                ....................(1)
Also given,
                 x+y = 60
             ⇒ 2y + y = 60
             ⇒ 3y = 60
             ⇒ y = 20
now putting value of y in equation (1),
             ⇒ x = 2y = 2 x 20 = 40

      ∴    Sarika's present age is 40 years and Salma's present age is 20 years.

let the age of sarika be x and that of salma be y .
1st Case
x+y=60 --------> (1)

Now it's given that the age of Sarika is 2 times the age of salma therefore we can write
x=2y ----------->(2)

Putting the value of x=2y in equation 1
therefore
x+y=60
2y+y=60
3y=60
y=20.

Now putting the value of y in equation 2
x=2y
x=2*20
x=40

Therefore x(Sarika's Age) =40
y(Salma's Age) =20

Hope you understand the answer and it helps u
