The sum of the radii of two circles is 140cm and the difference of their circumferences is 88cm. Find the diameters of the circles.

Let the radii of bigger circle be R and smaller circle be r cm respectively.

According to the question,

R+r = 140 ----(1)

R-r = 88 ----(2)

(1)+(2) ,we get,

2R = 140+88 = 228

R = 228/2 = 114 cm.

Now,

114+r = 140

r = 140-114 = 36 cm.

Diameter of the larger circle = 2×R = 2×114 = 228 cm.

Diameter of the smaller circle = 2×r = 2×36 = 72 cm.
