let the numbers be x,x+1

so, x2+(x+1)^2=313

x2+x2+2x+1=313

2x^2+2x=312

(/2) x2+x=156

by quadratic formula,

x= -b+- √b2-4ac/2

= -1 +- √1*1 -4*1*-156 /2

= -1+- √1+624/2

= -1+- √625/2

=-1+-25/2

=-1+25/2, -1-25/2

=24/2 ,-26/2

= 12, -13

given numbers are natural . so x= 12 and x+1=13
