Let the numbers be x and y

x+y=233?(1)

2y-x=3

x=2y-3? (2)

put in 1st eqn

(2y-3)+y=233

4y+9-12y+y=233

5y-12y-224= 0

5y-40y+28y-224=0

(y-8)(5y+28)= 0

y=8,-28/5

put in 2nd

x= 13

Let one number ne x

Other number is then= 2x-3

So (2x-3)^2 +(x)^2=223

On solving quadratic We get x = 8,-25/8
