let the two numbers be 'a' and 'b'
given, a^2+b^2 =394 -----(1)
and a^2-b^2=56------(2)
by adding (1) and (2) we get
2a^2=450
a^2=225
a=+15 or -15
by subrating (1) -(2)
2b^2=338
b^2=169
b=+13or -13
I hope this will help u :)
