Solution - Let the number be x.

$\frac{1}{3} + x = \frac{5}{9}$

Shifting 1/3 to Right Hand Side

$x = \frac{5}{9} - \frac{1}{3}$

Taking LCM we get 9

$x = \frac{5 - (1 \times 3)}{9}$

$x = \frac{5 - 3}{9}$

Performing subtraction

$x = \frac{2}{9}$

Hence, the other number is 2/9.
