the first condition says x+y−3y=3.

The second condition gives. x−y=5.

Thus we get two equations

x−2y=3 .... (1)

x−y=5 .... (2)

now x= 5+ y (a)

substitute value of x in eqn (1)

5+y-2y=3

5- y =3

5-3= y

2= y

and

substitute y value in eqn( a )

x=5+2

x=7

hence the value of x and y is 2 and 7 ...
