Let \: the \: number \: be \: 'x'. \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x +  \frac{ - 8}{9}  =  \frac{2}{3}  \\  =  > x -  \frac{8}{9}  =  \frac{2}{3}  \\  =  >  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  x =  \frac{2}{3}  +  \frac{8}{9}  \\  =  > \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  x =  \frac{6 + 8}{9}  \\  =  >  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  x =  \frac{14}{9}
