Given : 3x²-10x +3

To Find : sum of the zeroes of the polynomial

Solution:

Quadratic equation :

ax² + bx + c = 0

Sum of roots/zeroes = - b/a

Product of roots/zeroes = c/a

comparing 3x²-10x +3=0  with ax² + bx + c = 0

=> a = 3

    b = -10

   c = 3

Sum of roots/Zeroes = - b/a  = - (-10)/3  = 10/3

sum of the zeroes of the polynomial = 10/3

Other method

3x²-10x +3=0

Using middle term split

3x²-9x -x +3=0

=> 3x(x - 3) - 1(x - 3) = 0

=> (3x - 1)(x - 3) =0

=> x = 1/3  , 3

Zeroes are 1/3 & 3

Sum of zeroes = 1/3 + 3  = 10/3
