Proof

There is a polynomial ax^2+bx+c=0.

Let there be zeroes \alpha and \beta.

Then,

a(x-\alpha )(x-\beta )=0.

ax^2-a(\alpha +\beta )x+a\alpha \beta =ax^2+bx+c

By the identity,

-a(\alpha +\beta )=b.

∴Sum of two zeroes is equal to -\frac{b}{a}.

↓ Let's solve the question. ↓

a=2 and b=8, so sum of two zeroes are -4.

∴ -4
