Let:-

The three consecutive even numbers be 2x , 2x + 2 and 2x + 4 .

Given:-

Sum of these three consecutive even numbers = 108

Now on adding these three consecutive even numbers we get ,

=> 2x + (2x + 2) + (2x + 4) = 108

=> 2x + 2x + 2x + 2 + 4 = 108

=> 6x + 6 = 108

=> 6(x + 1) = 108

=>x + 1 = 18

=> x = 17

On putting the value of x in 2x , 2x +2 and 2x + 4 the numbers we have,

=> 2x = 2×17 = 34

=> 2x + 2 = 2×17 + 2 = 36

=> 2x + 4 = 2×17 + 4 = 38

Therefore:-

The smallest number is 34 and the largest number is 38.

108/3=36, the mean of the numbers and also the middle number

36-2=34

36+2=38
