we assign  x to the first integer .they are consecutive that means the 2nd integer will be x+1and the 3rd integer will be x+2 and they should add up to 495
so the equation will be-
 x+x+1+x+2=495
3x+3=495
3x=495-3
3x=492
x=492/3
x=164
which means 1st number is 164
                       2nd number is 165
                       3rd number is 166

Given:

The sum of three consecutive integers is 495.

To Find:

The three integers are?

Solution:

The given problem can be solved using simple algebra.

1. Let the first unknown consecutive number be x-1.

2. The second unknown consecutive number will be,

=> Second unknown consecutive number = First unknown consecutive number + 1,

=> Second unknown consecutive number = x - 1 + 1 = x.

3. The third unknown consecutive number will be,

=> Third unknown consecutive number = Second unknown consecutive number + 1,

=> Third unknown consecutive number = x + 1 = x + 1.

4. The sum of the three consecutive numbers is 495,

=> x - 1 + x + x + 1 = 495,

=> x + x + x = 495,

=> 3x = 495,

=> x = 495/3,

=> x = 165.

5. The three consecutive numbers are x-1, x, and x+1,

=> Three consecutive numbers are 164, 165, and 166.

Therefore, the three consecutive numbers are 164, 165, and 166.
