Given,

  • The sum of three consecutive integers is 5 more than the smallest of the integers.

To Find,

  • Three Consecutive Integers = ?

Solution :

\longrightarrow Suppose the three consecutive integers are :-

  • The First Consecutive integer be a
  • The Second Consecutive integer be a + 1
  • The Third Consecutive integer be a + 2

According to the Question :

\mapsto \sf{a+a+1+a+2 = a + 5}

\mapsto \sf{3a + 3 = a + 5}

\mapsto \sf{3a - a = 5-3}

\mapsto \sf{2a = 2}

\mapsto \sf{a = \dfrac{2}{2}}

\mapsto \boxed{\red{\sf{a = 1}}}

Therefore,

  • The First Consecutive integer be a = 1
  • The Second Consecutive integer be a + 1 = 2
  • The Third Consecutive integer be a + 2 = 3

\large{\boxed{\bf{\red{Let's\:understand\:the\:concept\:first!}}}}

In this question we are asked to find the three consecutive numbers whose sum is 5 more than the smallest of the integers.

Therefore, Let's assume that

  • The smallest integer or the first consecutive integer be n.
  • Then the second consecutive integer will be n + 1.
  • The third consecutive integer will be n + 2.

\huge{\underbrace{\bf{\pink{Let's\:Solve!}}}}

According to the question,

:\implies{\sf{n + (n+1) + (n+2) = n+5}}

:\implies{\sf{n + n+1 + n+2 = n+5}}

:\implies{\sf{3n+3 = n+5}}

:\implies{\sf{3n-n = 5-3}}

:\implies{\sf{2n = 2}}

:\implies{\sf{n = \dfrac{2}{2}}}

:\implies{\sf{\underline{\green{n=1}}}}

Hence, the three consecutive integers are:

  • First consecutive integer will be n = 1
  • Second consecutive integer will be n+1 = 1+1 = 2
  • Third consecutive integer will be n+2 = 1+2= 3

◾️What is a integer?

An integer is defined as a number that can be written without a fractional component. It can be positive, negative or can be 0.

Example: -1,-2,0,2,3 etc..

◾️What is a consecutive integer?

Numbers which follow each other in order. As the name suggests, It means following continuously or an unbroken sequence.

Example: 1,2,3 or 23,24,25,26 etc ..
