Let the smallest of three consecutive even numbers be n. Thus other two consecutive even numbers will be n+2 and n+4

As per statement, their sum is 168. It means

n + (n+2) + (n+4) = 168

n + n+2 + n+4 = 168

3n + 6=168

3n=168- 6

3n = 162

n = 162 / 3

n = 54

The smallest of three consecutive even number is 54, therefore other two consecutive even numbers are n + 2= 54 + 2 = 56 and n + 4 = 54 + 4 = 58

Answer the smallest of three consecutive odd numbers is 54.

To check the correctness of answer, we take the sum of derived numbers, which should be 168.

54 + 56 + 58 = 168

168 = 168

Means answer is correct.

x+2x+3x=168
6x = 168
x =168/6
x = 28

Consecutive numbers are

X multiply by 28 = 28
2X multiply by 28 = 56
3X multiply by 28 = 84
