Then subtract 1 from the square of this 20.

$20^2-1 \ = \ 400-1\ = \ \bold{399}$

Let us assume a-d,a,a+d

a-d + a + a + d = 60

3a = 60

a = 60÷3

a = 20

Therefore, the product of smaller and bigger number is

(20)² - 1 = 400-1 = 399
