The sum of three consecutive odd positive integers is 39. Find the largest number.

SOLUTIOn

Let consecutive odd positive number be x , (x + 2) and (x + 4)

According to the given condition

x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 39

→ x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 39

→ 3x + 6 = 39

→ 3x = 39 - 6

→ 3x = 33

→ x = 33/3 = 11

_____________________

So, x = 11

(x + 2) = 11 + 2 = 13

(x + 4) = 11 + 4 = 15

Hence, the Required number is 15
