Let the smallest of three consecutive numbers be x.
Hence other two numbers are x + 1 and x + 2
The sum of three consecutive number is
x + x + 1 + x + 2
Their product
x × (x + 1) × (x + 2)
The sum of three consecutive number is 12,
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 12
3x + 3 = 12
3x = 12 - 3
3x = 9
x = 9/3
x = 3
The smallest number is 3. Hence other two numbers are
x + 1 = 3 + 1 = 4
x + 2 = 3 + 2 = 5
The three consecutive numbers are 3, 4 and 5
Their product 3 × 4 × 5 = 60
Thus three consecutive numbers are correct.
Answer: The three consecutive numbers are 3, 4 and 5
