Given : sum of three consecutive terms in ap is 6 and their product is -90.

To find : the terms

Solution:

Let say three numbers  are

a - d , a  , a + d

Sum = a-d + a + a + d   = 6

=> 3a  = 6

=> a  = 2

numbers are

2-d  , 2   , 2 + d

Product  = (2 - d)(2)(2 + d)  = - 90

=> 4 - d ² = -45

=> d² = 49

=> d = ± 7

2 - 7  , 2  , 2 + 7     = -5  , 2  ,  9

or

2 -(-7) , 2 + (-7)  =  9 , 2  - 5

Three terms are

-5 , 2 &   9
