Let 1st , 2nd , 3rd numbers be x , y , z

A/c , " The sum of three numbers is 112 "

⇒ x + y + z = 112 ... (1)

A/c , " The second number is 5 times the first "

⇒ y = 5x

⇒ x = y/5 ... (2)

A/c , " The third number is 20 less than the second "

⇒ z = y - 20 ... (3)

Now sub. (2) & (3) in (1) , we get ,

⇒ y/5 + y + y - 20 = 112

⇒ 11y/5 = 132

⇒ 11y = 660

⇒ y = 60

So , Second number = y = 60
