Let the three numbers be 2x,5x and 7x

It is given that the numbers 2x,5x−7,7x are in A.P

Therefore 2(5x−7)=2x+7x

⇒10x−14=9x

⇒x=14

Therefore the numbers are 28,70,98.

Given:

  • The sum of three ratios, (2:5:7) =  28

To Find:

  • The three numbers.

Solution:

  • Let 2:5:7 be named as 2x,5x, and 7x
  • 2x+5x+7x = 28, from the given data.
  • 14x = 28 ⇒ x = 28/14 = 2
  • Substitute the value of x in the ratio given to find the three numbers.
  • First number, 2x = 2*2 = 4
  • Second number, 5x = 5*2 = 10
  • Third number, 7x = 7*2 = 14

∴ The three numbers are 4, 10, and 14.
