Answer:

Let , length of rectangle be x and breadth be y.

according to the problem,

2x + 3y = 21 ......... (i)

2(x + y )= 16

2x + 2y = 16 .............(ii)

equation i - ii we get ,

2x + 3y = 21

2x + 2y = 16

(-) (-) (-)

__________

y = 5

by putting the value of y in equation ii we get,

2x = 16 - (2× 5)

2x = 16 - 10

2x = 6

x = 6÷2

x = 3.

Therefore the values of x and y are 3 and 5 respectively..

Hope this will help you..
