The sum of two children is ‘a’. The age of the father is twice the ‘a’. After twenty years, his age will be equal to the addition of the ages of his children. Find the age of father.

Given sum of two children's age is a Father's age be 2a.

After 20 years father's age is 2a+20.

Sum of children's age is a+40.

From given data,

2a+20=a+40

2a-a=40-20

a=20 

Father's present age is 2a=2×20=40

ANSWER: 40 years.
