The sum of two consecutive even number is 114.

  • a) 150 and 64
  • b) 54 and 60
  • c) 56 and 58
  • d) 60 and 54

if we take a) 150 + 64 = 214 ✖️

if we take b) 54 + 60 = 114 ✔️

if we take c) 56 + 58 = 114 ✔️

if we take d) 60 + 54 = 114 ✔️

\rightarrowtail Hence,a) is wrong.

Given :

  • The sum of two consecutive even number is 114.

To Find :

  • the numbers.

Solution :

Let the first even number be x.

Then, second even number = x + 2.

ATQ,

➪ x + (x + 2) = 114

➪ 2x + 2 = 114

➪ 2x = 114 - 2

➪ x = 112/2

➪ x = 56

Hence,

  • first even number = 56
  • second even number = 56 + 2 = 58

∴ Option c) 56 and 58 is correct.

Verification :

Substituting x = 56, we get

➪ x + (x + 2) = 114

➪ 56 + (56 + 2) = 114

➪ 56 + 58 = 114

➪ 114 = 114

Hence, verified. ✔️
