Correction in Question

The sum of two consecutive Odd numbers is 144 the numbers are ?

Answer:

The Odd numbers are 71 and 73 .

SOLUTION

Let us assume that the smaller Odd number is 'x' , so the bigger Odd number will be of the form , x + 2 .

Given that :- The sum of two consecutive Odd numbers is 144 .

\implies

x + (x + 2) = 144

\implies

x + x + 2  =  144

\implies

2x + 2  = 144

\implies

2x  = 144 - 2

\implies

2x = 142

\implies

\sf x = \dfrac{142}{2} = 71

\red\bigstarThe smaller Odd number 'x' is 71 .

\blue\bigstarThe larger Odd number is of the form x + 2 = 71 + 2 = 73.

Let Us Verify

x + (x+2) = 144

x + x + 2 = 144

2x = 144 - 2

2x = 142

Substituting ,  x = 71

2 × 71 = 142

142 = 142 .

Here, LHS = RHS

Hence the answer is correct.
