  • As per the given data, we have to find the consecutive numbers.

       Let the two consecutive odd numbers are x and x+2 respectively.

       According to the question,

       \Rightarrow x+x+2=172\\ \Rightarrow 2x+2=172\\ \Rightarrow 2x=172-2\\\Rightarrow 2x=170

       \Rightarrow x=\frac{170}{2}

       \Rightarrow x=85.

       So, the second consecutive number is,

        \Rightarrow x+2=85+2\Rightarrow x=87.

        So, the consecutive odd numbers are 85 and 87 respectively.

- As per the given data, we have to find the consecutive numbers.

As per question,

As we have to find the two consecutive numbers whose sum is 172

So, Let the two consecutive numbers are \:x \:and \:x+2 respectively.

According to the question,

$$\begin{array}{l}\Rightarrow x+x+2=172 \\\Rightarrow 2 x+2=172 \\\Rightarrow 2 x=172-2 \\\Rightarrow 2 x=170 \\\Rightarrow x=\frac{170}{2} \\\Rightarrow x=85\end{array}$$

Hence, we can say that,

The both the numbers will be,

x\: and \:(x+2)\\ => 85 \: and \:(85 +2)\\ => 85 \: and \: 87
