Concept

Numbers which follow each other in order, without gaps, from smallest to largest. 12, 13, 14 and 15 are consecutive numbers.

Given

Sum of two consecutive multiples of 17 is 391

Find

Find the multiples

Solution

Let first number be x

So second number will be 17+x

We are given that

X + 17 + x = 391

2x + 17 = 391

2x = 391 – 17

2x = 374

x = 374/2

x = 187

First number = 187

Second Number = 187 + 17 = 204

The two consecutive multiples of 17 whose sum is 391 are 187 and 204.
