Let the two consecutive numbers be x and x+1.
According to the question,
x + x + 1 = 53
2x + 1 = 53
2x = 53 - 1
2x = 52
x = 52/2
x = 26
value of x i.e. the first digit = 26
value of x + 1 i.e. the other digit = 26 + 1 = 27
26 + 27 = 53
