Let the numbers be x and x+2.

x+x+2=56

2x=56-2

2x=54

x=27

x+2=27+2=29

The numbers are 27 and 29.

Given :-

  • Sum of two consecutive integers = 56

To Find :-

  • The first number.
  • The second number.

Solution :-

Consider the two integers as x and x+1 respectively.

Making an equation,

⟶ x + x + 1 = 56

⟶ 2x + 1 = 56

⟶ 2x = 56 - 1

⟶ 2x = 55

⟶ x = 27.5

Therefore,

  • First number = 27.5
  • Second number = x + 1 = 27.5 + 1 = 28.5

Therefore, the two consecutive numbers are 27.5 and 28.5 respectively.
