Given,

The sum of two consecutive odd numbers in a set of three consecutive odd numbers is 5 more than the third number.

To find,

The second number.

Solution,

Let the three consecutive numbers be (n-2), n and (n+2), where n is an odd number

According to the question,

(n - 2) + n = 5 + (n + 2)

2n - 2 = n + 7

2n - n = 7 + 2

n = 9

Hence, the second of these numbers is 9.
