Let the 2 consecutive odd numbers be x and
x+2.

So, As per question
X+x+2= 36
Or, 2x =36-2 = 34
Or, x= 34/2 = 17

Therefore, the smaller odd number is 17 and the bigger one is 19.

Hope this will be helping you.

Let the no. be 2x + 1 and 2x + 3.
where x = 0,1,2,3....
This is done bcz this is the way of representing odd nos.

Then (2x + 1) + (2x + 3) = 36
4x + 4 = 36
x = 8
But the nos. are 2x + 1 = 2(8) + 1 = 17
and 2x + 3 = 2(8) + 3 = 19
So, the smaller no. is 17.
