let the two digit number is = 10x + y

after inversing the digits the number would be = 10y + x

which is 9 less than 10x + y

so,

10y + x = 10x + y -9

10y - y + x -10x =-9

9y-9x=-9

or... 9x-9y=9

9(x-y) =9

x-y=9/9=1

msu112004: please answer in different method please
msu112004: how 10x came
Sanya729: because any number is expressed as such.... for example if number is 39 then in variable form it will be 3*10+9 or X*10+y=10x+y
