Let the numbers be x

x+x=45

But one number is 2/3 of the other-

x+2/3x=45

3/3x+2/3x=45

5/3x=45

5x=45x3

5x=135

x=135/5

 =27

Bigger Number= 27

Smaller Number= 2/3x

                          =2/3x27

( three cuts 27 with 9, do not write this )

                           =2x9

                           =18

Thanks!
