Given:-

  • Sum of two natural numbers is 10.
  • Difference of two natural numbers is 2.

To Find:-

  • The two numbers.

Answer:-

Let us take the first number be x and the second number be y . Let x > y.

According to the first condition sum of the two numbers is 10 .So,

⇒ x + y = 10. .....................(i)

According to the second condition difference of two numbers is 2. So ,

⇒ x - y = 2. .....................(ii)

On adding equⁿ (i) and equⁿ (ii) , we have ;

⇒ x + y = 10.

x - y = 2.

_____________

⇒ x + x = 10 + 2.

⇒ 2x = 12.

⇒ x = 12/2 .

x = 6.

Hence the value of x is 6.

Now put this value in equⁿ (i) , we have ;

⇒ x + y = 10m

⇒ 6 + y = 10.

⇒ y = (10- 6).

⇒ y = 4.

hence the two numbers are 6 and 4.
