Let the two numbers are x and y.

As per statement, the sum of two numbers is 30. Accordingly

x + y = 30…Eq..1

And their difference is 6

x - y = 6

x = 6 + y…Eq .2

Substituting the value of x from

Eq..2 to Eq.1

x + y = 30

6 + y + y = 30

6 + 2y = 30

2y = 30 - 6

2y = 24

y = 24/2

y = 12

Substituting the value of y in Eq..1

x + 12 = 30

x = 30 - 12

x = 18

The two numbers are x = 18 and y = 12
